Statement

Playing the Olympia was a magical moment for me and it was real treat to do this special show for my fans and be so close to them. Unfortunately at the end of the show – after I left the stage – a few thugs who were not my fans rushed the stage and started throwing plastic bottles pretending to be angry fans. The press reports have focused on this and not the joyous aspect of the evening. But nothing can take away or ruin this very special evening for me and my fans. When I looked out in the audience, everyone I saw had a smile on their face. I look forward to having this wonderful experience again.

MDNA through her own words

Oh my God, I just listened to M's interview with Larry Flick (Billboard editor and Sirius radio host).

Such a thrill to hear her voice, her thoughts, her speech (always so articulate and rich)...
And to know that MDNA is so damn dark and close to my all-time favourite album EVER, Erotica! (Larry, I love you!)

My God, I think I'm gonna die, next Monday.

The waiting hurts (so good)...

Against Human Regression

I'm a freedom fighter.
My show
My songs
My work ...
My art
Is all about freedom of expression
Freedom to choose to speak to act
Always with humanity and compassion
I will come to St. Petersburg to speak up for the gay community, to support the gay community and to give strength and inspiration to anyone who is or feels opressed.
I don't run away from adversity.
I will speak during my show about this ridiculous atrocity.

«You are the most golden of stars.»

I am so sorry to hear that this great legend has passed. I admired and respected her not only as an actress but for her amazing and inspiring work as an AIDS activist. She was one of a kind.

.
By sharing your light, you have unconsciously given us permission to do the same. You are the most golden of stars.

A legendary statement about a legendary tour

My show is not a conventional rock show, but a theatrical presentation of my music. And like theatre, it asks questions, provokes thoughts and takes you on an emotional journey, portraying Good and Bad, Light and Dark, Joy and Sorrow, Redemption and Salvation.

«Love wins»

Sunday, May 30, 2010

«I have always believed love conquers all - yesterday I got to see it in action.

In the last week over 30,000 of you added your name to mine calling for the release of Steven Monjeza and Tiwonge Chimbalanga - the Malawi couple sentenced to 14 years hard labor for the "crime" of homosexuality.

With incredible joy, I am writing to share with you that Malawi President Bingu wa Mutharika has ordered their release. Steven and Tiwonge were freed on Saturday night. They have won their freedom and you have been a part of it. (...)

We celebrate this astounding turn of events with Steven, Tiwonge, and the countless Malawians fighting for their release. It is a historic day for Malawi. (...)

Thank you for joining me in Raising Malawi.

With great love,
Madonna»

Well done, Madonna. Well done.

«I am shocked and saddened by the decision made today by the Malawian court, which sentenced two innocent men to prison. As a matter of principle, I believe in equal rights for all people, no matter what their gender, race, color, religion, or sexual orientation. Today, Malawi took a giant step backward. The world is filled with pain and suffering; therefore, we must support our basic human right to love and be loved. I call upon the progressive men and women of Malawi - and around the world - to challenge this decision in the name of human dignity and equal rights for all.»

Laying first brick at Raising Malawi Academy (Lilongwe, Malawi)

It is with hope for a bright future that I am here. Tomorrow the brick I will lay is not just the bedrock to a school - it is the foundation for our shared future.

MG ICON

What a cool business project. Lola’s sense of style is undeniable – it’s not hard to guess why. Here are some of my favorite bits of M’s recent interview with Alicia Quarles (The Associated Press) in New York:
.
Lola has been bothering me for ages about designing clothes. [Stella McCartney] started giving Lola fabrics and inviting her into her showroom and asking her opinion on things, giving her sketch books and stuff like that. Stella always pushed her.
.

Lola has been around all of the shoots I have done and all of the campaigns I have done. She is always hanging out backstage. The last two tours I have done, she has been working in the wardrobe department. On this last tour she dressed all of the dancers.

.

[Lola] reminds me of me when I was younger. She just goes for it and tries different things. It doesn’t look like she thought too much about it. That is how I used to be, but after years and years of everybody commenting on the way I look and dress and being photographed, one starts to become self-conscious and starts to plan things more. You end up judging yourself more, what looks good and what doesn’t.

MG ICON is an affordable juniors’ clothing line, designed by Madonna and Lola. It includes jeans, shoes, fingerless gloves, necklaces and other accessories. Many of the pieces are inspired by Madonna and Lola’s dance roots. It debuts at Macy’s this fall.
