Synchronicity, Prayer and Skepticism

Can you believe this?

So, a few days ago I had this spontaneous outbreak with Like A Prayer. I've been listening to the album ever since, going through the mesmerizing photo sessions, even reading the Rolling Stone interview.

Now, incredible news have surfaced the internet. Here's what The Examiner published, 2 days ago:

Today, it was announced that Madonna is going to re-release her 1989 classic album "Like a Prayer" Even though a date hasn't been set, Madonna finally agreed with Warner Brothers to celebrate the album's 25th year anniversary.

The re-released album will have a couple of never before heard tracks that didn't make it to the final album. There will also be a "Like a Prayer" app that contains many things Madonna fans will go crazy for, including a scene from the "Like a Prayer" video where she jumps off a diving board at UCLA and belly flops in a pool. The main camera missed the shot, but one of the low quality video assist cameras got it. The app will also feature footage of Madonna in the studio with producer Patrick Leonard.

It is believed that Warner Brothers is trying to make an agreement with Pepsi in order to re-release the "Like a Prayer" commercial, which was banned because of the controversial video. Madonna is also allegedly preparing to perform the whole "Like a Prayer" album at a couple of concerts next year. Are you excited, Madonna fans?

My eyes couldn't blink. Not only for imagining such a thing, but also for the synchronicity of it all.

However...

... in a time when music labels try to capitalize their back catalogues with special anniversary editions, to the delight of music fans, this is really hard to believe.

We all got used to Warner's laziness and lack of vision, after missing so many landmark dates and so many opportunities to celebrate - with pomp, circumstance and absolute reverence - a discography that defined 3 decades of pop music. (that "Original Album Series" crap?.. Spare me.)

So, if this turns out to be true... oh Dear Lord!!!

No. 2: Madonna, the Material Girl who ruled the world

During an appearance on “American Bandstand” in 1983, Dick Clark asked an up-and-coming young singer what her career aspirations were. With a smile, she matter-of-factly said, “I want to rule the world.” All hail Queen Madonna!
Twenty-five years, 12 Billboard No. 1 songs, worldwide album sales totaling hundreds of millions and a Golden Globe later, she has ruled with a velvet fist. Besides her numerous accolades, Madonna has influenced fashion, dance and pop culture for an entire generation.
Not bad for a girl from Bay City, Michigan.

«Love wins»

Sunday, May 30, 2010

«I have always believed love conquers all - yesterday I got to see it in action.

In the last week over 30,000 of you added your name to mine calling for the release of Steven Monjeza and Tiwonge Chimbalanga - the Malawi couple sentenced to 14 years hard labor for the "crime" of homosexuality.

With incredible joy, I am writing to share with you that Malawi President Bingu wa Mutharika has ordered their release. Steven and Tiwonge were freed on Saturday night. They have won their freedom and you have been a part of it. (...)

We celebrate this astounding turn of events with Steven, Tiwonge, and the countless Malawians fighting for their release. It is a historic day for Malawi. (...)

Thank you for joining me in Raising Malawi.

With great love,
Madonna»

Well done, Madonna. Well done.

«I am shocked and saddened by the decision made today by the Malawian court, which sentenced two innocent men to prison. As a matter of principle, I believe in equal rights for all people, no matter what their gender, race, color, religion, or sexual orientation. Today, Malawi took a giant step backward. The world is filled with pain and suffering; therefore, we must support our basic human right to love and be loved. I call upon the progressive men and women of Malawi - and around the world - to challenge this decision in the name of human dignity and equal rights for all.»

It's the most anticipated TV moment of the season: Glee's tribute episode to Madonna!

The whole cast dressed up in some of M's most iconic images for a TV Guide photoshoot; Oprah invited a real-life glee club to perform a cool rendition of "Vogue" (the VMAs baroque version); and Youtube's preview of "The Power of Madonna" unveils some incredible versions of M's music.

May the countdown begin!

Her Madgesty of the 00's

I'm still in complete ecstasy with this one:

Madonna was the most played artist in the UK, during the 1st decade of the new millennium, beating The Beatles and Robbie Williams!

The chart was compiled for BBC Radio 2 by music licensing body PPL and was based on airplay on TV, radio and public spaces - including pubs, clubs and retail stores - between 2000 and 2009.

M was the only female solo singer to make it to the Top 10. Here is the full list:

1. Madonna
2. The Beatles
3. Robbie Williams
4. Queen
5. Take That
6. Sugababes
7. Elton John
8. Elvis Presley
9. Abba
10. Coldplay

And to think that in 1993 they wrote ten-page articles on how her career was over...
